Job Summary & ResponsibilitiesOperations is a multi-faceted division that partners with all areas of the firm to deliver banking, sales and trading and asset management capabilities to clients around the world. Alongside this vital service delivery role, Operations provides essential risk management and control, preserving and enhancing the firm’s assets and its reputation.
Operations span all product lines and markets, serving as internal business partners who develop the processes and controls, and help to specify the systems that deliver accuracy, timeliness and integrity to our business.
Liquidity & Collateral Operations (LCO) manages the operational elements for daily funding and liquidity of the firm, oversees the firm's payment strategy and overall cash flows and positions, and also performs key functions related to counterparty risk management, client transparency, and product and pricing reference data. LCO comprises five Departments: Funding Operations, Treasury Operations, Accounting Services, Reference Data Strategy and Margin, Valuations and Pricing (MVP).
The role of Funding Operations is to partner with Corporate Treasury and the Firm’s Funding Desks to maintain the daily funding and liquidity of the firm. The department is globally functionally aligned into Trade Management, Liquidity Management, and Projects. The Trade Management team provides middle office and post trade date support for the Funding Desks: Short Term Interest Rate (STIR) and Global Liquidity Products (GLP); management of the issuance of unsecured long term and short term debt, and repo client account monitoring. The Liquidity Management team interact more closely with Corporate Treasury and functions include projections of cash, inventory, and collateral management. The Projects team, with the Trade Management and Liquidity Management teams, are responsible for design and implementation of new business funding flows. Funding Operations is also running a multi-year program to implement strategic architecture and continued improvements in control, operational efficiency and industrialisation. Funding Operations works closely with all divisions; most specifically with Treasury, FX, MVP, and Technology.
The opportunity is for an Operations professional with 6-7 years industry experience to join the Bangalore Funding Ops department, assisting in the management of the line team supporting the EMEA and Asia funding flows. The successful candidate will closely supervise the core funding processes in partnership with other regional managers, act as a point of escalation and provide coaching and feedback to the individual members of the department. The candidate will represent the department at risk meetings and in discussions with senior leadership. The candidate will also be expected to proactively contribute ideas and lead initiatives related to the growth strategy of the Bangalore Funding Ops department, continued improvements in control, operational efficiency and industrialisation initiatives.
Basic Qualifications• Graduate or of graduate calibre
• Minimum 6 years experience in an Operations role within a Bank
• Minimum 1 year experience managing people, inclusive of career development discussions
• Demonstrated ability to implement and enforce strong risk management practices
• Strong understanding of securities markets, trade life cycle and system flows
Preferred Qualifications• Experience within Liquidity, Collateral, Derivatives or Securities Operations preferred but not essential
• Previous experience in contributing to large scale, strategic projects preferred
• Strong analytical, organizational and problem solving skills
• Ability to build relationships with people from other teams and levels of seniority
• Self starter with good commercial perspective
• Ability to work on multiple tasks
• Strong team player
