Goldman Sachs Hosts Students from All Star Code

Students from the All Star Code computer science program visited Goldman Sachs to learn about careers in engineering. The event was hosted by the firm’s Technology Black Network.

All Star Code prepares young men of color for future employment in engineering by providing mentorship, industry exposure, and training in computer science. Goldman Sachs has worked with the organization for several years, as partner Valentino Carlotti was among its first supporters. This year, Goldman Sachs Gives, the firm’s donor-advised fund, will be honored at All Star Code’s annual benefit for its longstanding partnership.

During the visit, students were paired with Goldman Sachs engineers who provided insight into their background, career path and life at Goldman Sachs. Students had the opportunity to visit engineers on the trading floor.

Derek Jean-Baptiste, a managing director in Prime Services Client Technology, provided an overview of the firm and what it means to be an engineer at Goldman Sachs. Tamara Waye, a vice president in the User Experience (UX) team, led a thirty-minute session that explored the role UX plays in sparking innovation.
