Goldman Sachs Added to Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index

On September 10, 2015, Goldman Sachs was included on the annual Dow Jones Sustainability North American Index  -  the only addition within the category Diversified Financials in 2015.

S&P Dow Jones Indices and sustainability investment specialist RobecoSAM announced the results of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) review, which compiles benchmark lists of leading companies in environmental, social and economic practices.

Launched in 1999, the DJSI index is the first global index to track the leading sustainability-driven companies worldwide based on RobecoSAM’s analysis of financially material Environmental, Social and Governance factors. RobecoSAM invited the world’s largest 3,400 companies from developed and emerging markets to take part in its annual Corporate Sustainability Assessment.

“This inclusion demonstrates the firm’s long-standing commitment to harnessing markets and deploying capital to help address some of the most pressing environmental and societal issues,” said Kyung-Ah Park, head of Environmental Markets Group. “This successful outcome is another milestone in our sustainability journey and is a reflection of the firm’s leadership across the breadth of our business activities and our own operations.”

Goldman Sachs was one of 13 leading companies that participated in the White House’s American Business Act on Climate Pledge, in July, to support the upcoming United Nations climate negotiations in Paris in December. The firm committed to use 100 percent renewable power to meet its global electricity needs by 2020 and also announced carbon neutrality and absolute energy reduction goals.
