Edith Cooper, Global Head of Human Capital Management, Receives Leadership Award from SEO

Global Head of Human Capital Management Edith Cooper received the 2012 Corporate Leadership Award from Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO). Edith addressed more than 600 attendees at the awards dinner in New York on April 17, 2012.

In her acceptance speech, Edith emphasized the importance of diversity in the financial services industry and highlights the firm's long-standing partnership with SEO.

SEO started in 1963 as New York City’s first mentoring and college preparatory programs for underserved high school students. The nonprofit now provides a broad range of educational and career development opportunities to hundreds of high school students, college students and young professionals across the US. More than 6,000 students have graduated from SEO's Scholars and Career Programs and work in a variety of industries. Approximately 75 SEO alumni are currently at Goldman Sachs.

Edith Cooper is a Partner of the firm and a Management Committee member. She has been an Executive Vice President of Goldman Sachs since April 2011 and our Global Head of Human Capital Management since March 2008. From 2002 to 2008, she served in various positions at the firm, including sales management within the Securities Division. In 2002, she was responsible for the firm’s Futures business and, prior to that, she was co-head of the commodities business in Europe and Asia.
