Interview Tips: The Case Study Format
The case study interview is a good way to assess a person's problem-solving skills and creativity. In case study interviews, you will be asked to analyze a situation then discuss how to address the problems presented by that situation. If you're asked, for instance, how many manhole covers there are in New York City, rather than coming up with an answer right way, your job is to explain your thought process. For example, one might say that since there are 12 avenues in New York City and 150 streets that intersect them, one could multiply 12 by 150 and get 1,800 manhole covers. This answer may or may not be correct, but the important thing is to demonstrate one's approach to problem-solving.
