Global Investment Research - Analyst
After graduating from college or university, new analysts may be placed into equity, credit, economics, commodities or strategy research teams. This provides them with the opportunity to specialize in a specific area.
What You Would Be Doing
New analysts attend a training program that introduces them to Goldman Sachs and provides insight into GIR and its relationship with other groups within the firm. Focused training sessions cover essential skills including accounting, valuation, financial modeling and writing.
Once this training is complete, analysts join a research team and work closely with senior analysts, associates and other team members. Daily responsibilities may include analyzing companies and sectors, building and maintaining models, and analyzing data and market trends. Research analysts interact with external clients of the firm, including investment managers, hedge funds, pension funds and insurance companies. They also interact with internal clients of the firm such as sales and trading personnel.
