Goldman Sachs Holds Third Annual Sports Challenge With Greenhouse Charity
Goldman Sachs hosted the third annual Greenhouse Sports Challenge on July 2, 2014 welcoming to our London campus young people from sports and performing arts charity Greenhouse for an internal basketball and table tennis tournament.
Almost 180 people from divisions across Goldman Sachs participated in the competition. They were joined by 20 young people and coaches from London-based Greenhouse which led the warm-up sessions, umpired the matches and helped keep score.
Greenhouse, which is supported by Goldman Sachs Gives, aims to develop social, thinking, emotional and physical skills for eight- to 18-year-olds in London communities through intensive sports programs.
Co-CEO of Goldman Sachs International Michael Sherwood awarded medals to the winners at the closing ceremony. He said: “Our third Sports Challenge was hugely enjoyable for our people and the young people from Greenhouse alike.”
Chief Executive of Greenhouse Michael de Giorgio remarked: “The Goldman Sachs Sports Challenge was a great success. Every year we hold this event the atmosphere becomes more electric. Our young people had a fantastic day.”
