Goldman Sachs Responds to Hurricane Maria

Since Hurricane Maria struck Puerto Rico on September 20, Goldman Sachs’ combined contributions toward recovery efforts on the island have surpassed more than $1 million to date.

The firm’s recent $500,000 commitment is part of a partnership with Metropistas, and investment partner Abertis, funding the essential recovery efforts underway through nonprofit organizations Unidos per Puerto Rico, the American Red Cross and Team Rubicon.

In addition to the firm’s monetary support and grants recommended by the firm's partners through Goldman Sachs Gives, the Goldman Sachs Office of Corporate Engagement organized a Community TeamWorks event for all employees in the New York and New Jersey offices for October 27. Goldman Sachs employees will participate in an all-day meal-packing effort to bring nutritious food to families in need. The event is held in partnership with Pack Shack, a national hunger relief organization, and will result in 70,000 meals to be delivered to Puerto Rico by Convoy of Hope, a nonprofit that facilitates the transport of supplies to at-risk areas around the world.

Goldman Sachs will continue to match eligible employees’ donations dollar-for-dollar through the firm’s Matching Gift Program to the above nonprofits, as well as Save the Children, Salvation Army, Mission Continues and others.
