2019 Global Recruiter Recap

09 JAN 2020

As we head into 2020, we asked our recruiters around the world to reflect on some of their favorite events from 2019 where they got to meet all types of people interested in Goldman Sachs. Take a look at some of last year’s recruitment highlights:

Bengaluru: Seventh Annual GS Quantify Student Competition

Students from engineering schools across India participated in the seventh annual GS Quantify engineering challenge hosted by the Goldman Sachs office in Bengaluru. The onsite event opened with Gunjan Samtani, head of the Bengaluru office, sharing his views on the firm’s commitment to technology and the recruitment initiatives being undertaken in alignment with this. Other speakers then helped students connect the dots between the firm’s business and engineering, while a ‘speed mentoring’ session provided insight into the firm, the financial services sector, and the corporate world more broadly. The finalists then presented their solutions from the online round to a panel of engineering professionals from the firm. The event concluded with prize giveaways and a networking dinner for finalists and Engineering leaders from our Bengaluru office.

“GS Quantify offers a very wholesome learning experience. The questions were challenging and stimulating without being overly complicated. The presentations placed special emphasis on the approach for developing solutions,” said one participant.

  • Over 4,300 engineering students competed to provide solutions to real-world quantitative finance and analytics problems
  • 27 finalists were from 14 colleges

Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Singapore: Campus Pop-ups

For the second year in a row, our university recruitment teams provided interactive candidate experiences with campus “pop-ups”.  These events provided students a glimpse of the firm’s culture, opportunities, and programs they can apply to with accessible, engaging and fun elements. They included a spin-the-wheel game to learn fun facts and topics about Goldman Sachs like GS Accelerate, Community TeamWorks and Affinity Networks; a bicycle that blended smoothies to engage students on our wellness offerings for a healthy lifestyle; chalk boards for personalized messages, and more.

Warsaw: Perspektywy Women in Tech Summit

It brought together women software engineers for two days in a series of technical workshops, inspiring keynotes, and networking opportunities. We connected with hundreds of attendees about the opportunities we offer. Senior leaders provided a keynote and panel session titled, “An Evening with Goldman Sachs.”
