Our Salt Lake City Office Hosts Local Students with Disabilities for Career Day

27 MAR 2018

More than twenty students with disabilities from the Salt Lake City area recently attended a careers day at Goldman Sachs to get advice and to learn about career opportunities in their communities.

Transition Mentoring Day, as the event is called, is a program run by the Utah Governor's Committee on Employment for People with Disabilities. The initiative helps students with disabilities prepare for and obtain employment.

During a morning session, individuals heard from a panel of four Goldman Sachs analysts who shared their thoughts on what it is like to work at Goldman Sachs. The analysts offered advice on interviewing and what it’s like to transition to working in the corporate world.

After the panel, the students participated in team-building events, a networking lunch and information sessions hosted by the firm’s Disability Interest Forum, an employee affinity network.

"Goldman Sachs values diversity and how individuals with disabilities contribute to our success and make us a stronger firm,” says David Lang, head of the Salt Lake City office. "This event was all about giving students opportunities to learn a little bit more about what it takes to work in a professional work environment, if they choose that career path."
