Before joining Goldman Sachs, I worked in financial services for 10 years, leading teams of service representatives for banks and credit card companies. A recruiter from Goldman Sachs contacted me about an opportunity to help build out a new business within the firm in Salt Lake City. As I learned more about the opportunity to launch a new business within the firm through the interview process, I could feel the energy, positivity and collaborative spirit.
Since joining, I’ve helped build two teams for Marcus by Goldman Sachs, our online lending platform for consumers. I started out as an analyst developing a team of credit specialists. Then in my first year, I was asked to help build a new Marcus Deposits team, which is the team I currently lead. We’re a group of savings specialists who work with customers over the phone to answer questions regarding our products, help them open new savings accounts and answer banking questions. The most important part of my job is mentoring and developing my team to help them grow their career and deliver an excellent experience for our customers.
I’m involved in the firm’s Women’s Network and the Hispanics/Latino Network. For Hispanic heritage month, we put on cultural events that everyone in the firm is welcome to join. I’m originally from Michoacán, Mexico, so it’s nice to be able to share my background with the people I work with.
Salt Lake City is a great place to work and explore. Whether I’m visiting museums or festivals, as long as I’m with my friends and family, I’m happy. I’m also a big hiker, so on my days off, I’m often out in the mountains, finding new trails and taking pictures.
