I joined Goldman Sachs because it is a global company that offers unlimited opportunities to grow and to surround myself with the best in my profession. This firm has a reputation as one of the best financial firms in the world. So that’s where I wanted to be. I had the good fortune of training under a professor at my university who had worked for Goldman Sachs for more than 30 years. He was the one who encouraged me to apply.

As a vice president of Equity Execution Services, I lead a team that supports the firm’s cash equity trading businesses. Day-to-day, I coach other team members, help drive strategic initiatives for the firm and our clients, and manage client relationships to ensure we’re delivering best-in-class products and services. I also spend a considerable amount of time recruiting talent. The best part of my career so far has been seeing others develop and progress. As a manager, I succeed only when my team does.

The power of diversity at Goldman Sachs is outstanding. We make every effort to identify and recruit the very best from all over the world. Together, we come up with creative solutions to resolve complex issues. This is something I really value about working here.

Passion, dedication, competence, and perseverance are keys to a successful career at Goldman Sachs. Be willing to work hard, ask thoughtful questions and seek feedback so you can continue to grow and develop. You don’t have to try to be someone else, just be yourself. Be confident in your own strengths and the values you bring from your unique background.

For the last 8 years, I’ve volunteered through the firm’s Community TeamWorks initiative. One of my favorite projects was teaching basic financial concepts to children in lower-income areas. I also mentor interns and other employees through the firm’s Hispanic affinity group. On the personal front, I focus on spending quality time with my family and volunteering at church each week.
