Business Overview

Courtney is the co-owner of Headframe Spirits in Butte, Montana. Headframe Spirits is a micro-distillery that also features a manufacturing branch. The company builds distillation equipment for other micro-distilleries and packages products for other brands.

Courtney initially struggled to find the financing her business needed in order to grow. The process was stressful, and challenged her confidence in herself as a business owner.

Courtney participated in the national 10,000 Small Businesses program, which includes a combination of online and in-person business education sessions. Using the skills she learned in the program, Courtney developed a growth plan that helped her business receive the financing it needed to expand. Courtney now has plans to open the largest distillery west of the Mississippi River by repurposing twenty acres of an abandoned copper mine. All together, the effort is projected to create 100 new jobs. In 2013, she was named Montana’s Entrepreneur of the Year with her husband and co-owner, John.
