10,000 Women graduate awarded Goldman Sachs and Fortune Global Women Leaders Award

The annual Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit took place virtually from September 29 to October 1. Each year, Fortune convenes preeminent women in business and select leaders from across government, philanthropy, education, and the arts for inspiring conversations. Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women was proud to partner with Fortune on this year’s Summit, which covered the theme “Rising to the New Reality.”

As part of Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women’s partnership with the Summit, each year a graduate of the 10,000 Women program is awarded the highly prestigious Goldman Sachs and Fortune Global Women Leaders Award.

This year’s winning 10,000 Women entrepreneur is Rayana Edwards, who runs Sari for Change, a South African-based organization that trains unemployed women in garment making to help them become financially empowered.

9 out of 10 graduates from the 10,000 Women program go on to help other women, and Rayana’s story is an incredible example of the power of paying it forward. The Sari for Change model has been replicated and simplified so that, once trained, the women easily become the trainer—multiplying the positive impact that Sari for Change sets into motion.
