Entrepreneurship and Building a Business

Published on17 NOV 2015

Entrepreneurship is about problem solving. Goldman Sachs hosted three successful entrepreneurs – 10,000 Small Businesses graduate Byron Dixon of Micro-Fresh; Matt Riley of Daisy Group; and Lance Uggla of Markit – to talk with Michael Sherwood, vice chairman of The Goldman Sachs Group and co-CEO of Goldman Sachs International, about the big challenges their companies work to solve and the small ones that come with starting from the ground up.

Best advice for aspiring entrepreneurs?

Byron Dixon: "Enthusiasm can sell the product and sell the brand."

Matt Riley: "Don’t give up, and if you’re only half-committed, don’t do it."

Lance Uggla: "The competitive edge, the work ethic and the good manners - you don’t have to pay for them, you don’t go to university for them, but if you have them, they win every day."
