Laurie Schmidt to Retire
After more than 22 years of distinguished service, Laurie Schmidt, chief financial officer of Goldman Sachs Asset Management private funds, will retire.
Throughout her career at the firm, Laurie has made significant contributions across Merchant Banking, and later Asset & Wealth Management, helping to develop and execute a number of strategic initiatives, including as we integrated our direct investing platform to deliver our domain expertise in multiple alternative asset classes to our clients. We have benefitted greatly from her leadership as we positioned our business for long-term sustainable growth.
In addition to her commercial contributions, Laurie has made a lasting impact on our people and culture. She has dedicated significant time and effort to recruiting, developing and mentoring talented individuals around the world.
Laurie joined Goldman Sachs as an associate in 2003, and was named managing director in 2010 and partner in 2018.

Marko Ratesic Named Vice Chairman of Consumer Retail Group
We are pleased to announce that Marko Ratesic will become vice chairman of the Consumer Retail Group (CRG). In his role, Marko will work across the franchise to drive strategic initiatives, ensuring CRG continues to deliver exceptional service and holistic solutions to clients around the world.
Marko is currently chief operating officer of the Financial and Strategic Investors Group in the Americas, responsible for some of the firm's largest financial sponsor and consumer clients. In his new role, Marko will continue to work with a number of financial sponsor-owned companies as well as other significant clients across our franchise.
Marko joined Goldman Sachs in 2006 as a vice president in the Consumer Retail Group in New York. He transferred to Investment Banking Services in 2009 and relocated to Chicago in 2012 to help lead Investment Banking in the Midwest Region, and returned to New York in 2021. He was named managing director in 2009 and partner in 2016.

Michael Paese to Become a Senior Advisor
After more than 16 years of distinguished service, Michael Paese, global head of the Office of Government and Regulatory Affairs, will retire from the partnership at the end of the year. We are pleased to share that Michael will continue to support our team as a senior advisor. In this capacity, he will leverage his immense industry knowledge and insights, focusing on key regulatory and policy initiatives. He will also engage with our clients globally to provide perspectives on the political landscape and insights on global public policy issues, including financial regulation. In addition, Michael will serve on the board of the Goldman Sachs Foundation where he will help guide and support our key philanthropic initiatives.
Michael’s keen judgment and strategic approach have been invaluable assets to our firm. His ability to assess complex situations and distill them into clear, actionable strategies has led to numerous successes and has helped shape the direction of our business. Under Michael’s leadership, our engagement both in Washington and globally has positioned the firm well to participate in efforts focused on economic growth, the strength of the financial system, and capital markets activity. His thoughtful approach has inspired many on the team, over the years, to elevate their own thinking and strive for excellence.
Michael has also provided oversight to our Sustainable Finance Group in the Executive Office for the past two years, working with the team to coordinate the firm’s approach to sustainability, collaborate with our businesses, and meet the growing, multifaceted regulatory needs in this space in different regions.
Michael is a member of the Partnership Committee, and in that role has contributed to a number of initiatives that have protected and strengthened the firm’s culture and partnership ethos. He will continue to advise the Partnership Committee.
Michael joined Goldman Sachs as a managing director in 2009 and was named partner in 2016.

Thierry Sancier to Leave Goldman Sachs
After more than 30 years of distinguished service, Thierry Sancier, co-head of the Paris office and co-head of Investment Banking for France, Belgium and Luxembourg, will leave the firm.
Throughout his three decades at the firm, Thierry has helped expand and deepen our Investment Banking franchise in the region, and has helped grow the firm’s presence in Paris. In addition, he has helped recruit and develop our people, and has been a mentor and friend to many.
Thierry joined Goldman Sachs in London in 1995 as an analyst in Mergers & Acquisitions, and was named managing director in 2006 and partner in 2016.

Leadership Changes in Investment Banking in France
We are pleased to announce the following leadership changes in Investment Banking in France.
Céline Méchain will become sole head of Investment Banking for France, Belgium and Luxembourg (FraBeLux). She will continue to serve as co-head of the Paris office alongside Marc D’Andlau.
Anne Bizien will become chief operating officer of Investment Banking in FraBeLux, in addition to her current client coverage responsibilities in the region. In this expanded role, Anne will work with Investment Banking leadership to further grow our business and ensure seamless coordination across the team in EMEA.
Céline joined Goldman Sachs in 1998 as an analyst, and was named managing director in 2006 and partner in 2016.
Anne joined Goldman Sachs as a managing director in 2018 and was named partner in 2024.

Alex Reinert to Become Head of Asia Pacific Prime Services Franchise
We are pleased to announce that Alex Reinert will become head of Asia Pacific Prime Services Franchise, reporting to Rob Drake-Brockman and Tanweer Kabir. In this role, Alex will lead our Prime franchise strategy in the region, working with local and global colleagues as we continue to grow our footprint.
Alex is currently head of Asia Pacific Micro Financing and co-manages the Asia Equity Financing Micro-Product team. He joined Goldman Sachs in 2011 as a vice president, and was named managing director in 2017 and partner in 2024.

Alex Chi to Leave Goldman Sachs
After 31 years of distinguished service, Alex Chi, co-head of Americas Direct Lending within Goldman Sachs Asset Management, will leave the firm.
Alex has made a significant impact on our business, both in his most recent role in Direct Lending, as well as his additional responsibilities as co-chief executive officer and co-president of the Goldman Sachs BDC complex.
Prior to joining Goldman Sachs Asset Management, Alex worked in the Financial and Strategic Investors Group within Investment Banking after spending several years in Leveraged Finance. Earlier in his career, Alex was based in Hong Kong, working on a range of transactions for clients across Asia Pacific, after starting in New York in information technology and fixed income capital markets.
In addition to his commercial contributions, Alex has been dedicated to advancing the firm’s culture by helping to recruit, mentor and develop the next generation of talent, including serving as firmwide recruiting captain for MIT. He has also contributed to the firm’s diversity initiatives, including as global head of the Asian Network, which he co-founded, and serving on the Global Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
