Goldman Sachs Sponsors Serpentine Pavilion 2023

Creativity and innovation have been hallmarks of Goldman Sachs since the firm’s inception in 1869, and we are immensely proud of our long-standing partnership with Serpentine Galleries where experimentation and originality are at the core of everything they do.

The Serpentine Pavilion is a great example where every year since 2000 a talented architect is given an opportunity to share their vision with a largely new public as part of creating their first structure in the UK. This year, we are delighted that Lina Ghotmeh is bringing her convivial À table to the Serpentine’s lawn.

Inspired by the Lebanese-born, Paris-based architect’s Mediterranean heritage and fervent discussions around the table over current affairs, politics, personal lives, and dreams, the Pavilion’s title À table is a French call to sit down together at a table to enter into dialogue and to share a meal.

Built predominantly from bio-sourced and low-carbon materials, the Serpentine Pavilion 2023 continues Ghotmeh’s focus on sustainability and designing spaces that are conceived in dialogue with the natural environment that surrounds them. The structure’s modest low roof takes inspiration from togunas: structures found in Mali, West Africa, which are traditionally used for community gatherings to discuss current issues, but also to offer shade and relief from heat.

The Pavilion will be open to the public between 9 June - 29 October 2023.
