Goldman Sachs Talks

Eric Yuan, Founder and CEO of Zoom

In this episode of Talks at GS, Zoom CEO Eric Yuan discusses the recent acceleration of the video conferencing business and how the digital transformation will impact the future of work.

On the future transformation of video conferencing: “So from a product perspective, we truly believe video is the new voice and video conferencing, like Zoom, can deliver a much better experience than face-to-face meetings. We’re already there now. However, imagine if in the next 15 or 20 years where you and I can talk over Zoom and if I shake hands with you remotely, you will feel like my hand is shaking. If I give you a hug, you can feel my intimacy as well. And we can speak a different language with AI [through] real-time language translation or, if you are drinking a coffee, with just one click, you can digitalize the smell... Technology-wise it’s not ready, but in the future, it will be ready.”

On the future of work: “Overall, I think even after this crisis is over, I’m pretty sure the way to work, to live, to play [will be] totally different because there are so many ways now to support collaboration [and] to support working from home.”
