Hybrid Acceleration

While expectations for electric vehicles have been scaled back since 2017, one segment of the market is powering forward: hybrids. So why the demand for vehicles that combine an electric motor and a traditional internal combustion engine? Goldman Sachs Research says hybrids will bridge the gap over the next decade until battery innovations make fully electric vehicles more affordable and convenient. Against a backdrop of more stringent environmental policy, our analysts expect electrified or hybrid vehicles to account for 35% of global auto sales by 2030.
