Why Market Fundamentals Are Stronger Than You Think

After a volatile start to the year, many major equity markets have posted relatively flat returns to date, a sign that investors see lukewarm prospects for global growth and feel there are limited investment opportunities. Despite headwinds, Katie Koch of Goldman Sachs Asset Management sees bright spots in equity market fundamentals around the world, from a better-positioned consumer in the US to corporate governance improvements in Japan to the impact of low oil prices in India.

While there are clearly a number of things to be concerned about, again, we come back to the fact that fundamentals are quite strong. And if you couple that with reasonable valuations around most of the world, we continue to think that the investment landscape has a lot of opportunities.
