NEW YORK, July 17, 2018 – At the quarterly meeting of Goldman Sachs managing directors, Lloyd Blankfein announced he will retire as Chairman and CEO this year, and his successor will be David Solomon, the firm’s current President and COO. “Over the last 19 years, David has shown he plays the long game. He’s patient, deliberate, disciplined…” Blankfein said. Solomon thanked Blankfein and the board for the opportunity and said, “My job is to extend and maintain [the firm’s] precious legacy. When I think about the talent in this organization, the power, the franchise, the abilities of this firm I am hugely confident about the future for all of us and look forward to all that we can accomplish together.”
