One of Europe’s leading soccer teams gets a new owner, supported by Goldman Sachs.
A $700 million sale of a soccer (or football, depending on where you live) team is a big deal, even by professional sports standards. Goldman Sachs has acted as an extension of the AS Roma staff, first helping them explore a potential new stadium, then facilitating the innovative financing and sale of the club to the US-based Friedkin Group.
Teamwork helped us create a winning solution. Seamless coordination across many parts of the firm was key to making things possible. There was a tight partnership between the Technology, Telecom and Media group (TMT) and the Public Sector and Infrastructure teams within our Investment Banking Division, alongside Legal, Compliance, Credit Risk and many others. Our Transaction Banking team provided critical, bespoke solutions on an expedited timeline. And GS Private Wealth Management played an important role in understanding the depth of the market.
