2021 Virtual Grace Hopper Celebration Recap

05 OCT 2021

Goldman Sachs participated in the 2021 virtual Grace Hopper Celebration (vGHC) from Monday, September 27 to Friday, October 1, as a platinum sponsor.

During our thirteenth year as sponsors of the conference, Kelsey Lafer, a fixed income strategist in the Global Markets Division, presented a tech talk on Engineering Low Latency Electronic Trading Systems, while Tolu Akinyosoye, a vice president on the Investment Banking Platforms team, presented a poster on Micro Front-Ends in Digital Strategy. The Goldman Sachs after-hours event – a panel discussion featuring engineers from the firm, moderated by Sue Harnett, founder and president of Rewriting the Code (RTC) – took place on Wednesday, September 29, and welcomed over 70 attendees from the conference and beyond.

The Goldman Sachs virtual booth was home to multiple events through the course of the week, ranging from a former intern panel, to location spotlights and a senior perspectives panel. The feature booth event was a fireside chat with co-CIO George Lee on Thursday, September 30, in which he shared his perspectives on the future of Engineering at the firm and how being surrounded by strong women, both in his personal and professional life, has helped shape his career.

Our engineers, including members of our Women in Engineering affinity network, and recruiters engaged with over 1000 young women in technology at the virtual booth, including 300 individual coffee chats. Goldman Sachs is proud to actively support the AnitaB Org Institute for Women in Technology as a partner.
