City of Cleveland, Cuyahoga Community College and the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses initiative will help create jobs and economic growth by providing Cleveland area small businesses with practical business education, business support services and access to capital.
Cleveland Mayor Frank G. Jackson joined Goldman Sachs and Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) on May 8, 2012 to announce the launch of 10,000 Small Businesses in Cleveland, Ohio. Goldman Sachs is committing $15 million to the program in Cleveland to provide loans to help local small businesses and to provide capacity-building grants to local partner organizations.
At the event, Gary Cohn, president and chief operating officer, reaffirmed Goldman Sachs’ commitment to working hand-in-hand with local partners to jumpstart small business growth and job-creation.
Cleveland is the seventh location of the 10,000 Small Businesses initiative in the United States. Cuyahoga Community College will deliver the business and management education program for 10,000 Small Businesses in Cleveland and is also working with local organizations to encourage small businesses to apply for the education and/or capital program components.
Other partners involved in the program include the Council of Smaller Enterprises (COSE), JumpStart, Inc., the Northeast Ohio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Urban League of Greater Cleveland. These partners will help with the recruitment of small business owners and entrepreneurs in the Greater Cleveland area and will assist in providing outreach and business support services.
