For Your Information: Cheung Kong Center COVID-19 Precautionary Measures

The following email was sent today to all employees of Goldman Sachs in our Hong Kong office today.

We want to inform you that one of our colleagues in the Investment Banking Division (IBD) on the 60th floor of our Cheung Kong Center office in Hong Kong has been identified as a highly probable case of COVID-19. This individual has been self-isolating at home since Tuesday, March 17 and is currently undergoing further tests in hospital.

The person is feeling unwell but not currently experiencing any serious symptoms. The individual has no recent travel history.

We will be in contact with the Hong Kong Health Department and are in the process of identifying and notifying those who were in close contact with the individual. These colleagues will also be in self-isolation at home for 14 days and they will require Wellness clearance before returning to work in the office.

Out of an abundance of caution, the entire 60th and 67th floors will undergo deep cleaning tonight using products deemed effective against COVID-19. To enable this to take place we ask all IBD individuals working on the 60th and 67th floors to leave by 8:15 p.m. and work from home until further notice. All common areas throughout our premises and Cheung Kong Center will also undergo deep cleaning. The rest of the office will be open tomorrow morning but if you are not comfortable coming to the office, please discuss with your manager about work from home arrangements.

As previously advised, staff should be conducting phone or video calls rather than face-to-face meetings. Any non-essential meetings including seminars and training sessions, both internally and externally should be postponed.

As always, your health and safety remain our top priority. Wellness will continue to review the situation, and we will update you should any important developments arise. Your divisional leaders have been notified, and you may receive additional guidance from them as it relates to Business Continuity Planning.

Reminder: If you are feeling sick, even with mild symptoms (e.g., scratchy throat, runny nose), we expect you to work from home until your symptoms have subsided. If you develop a fever or respiratory symptoms, you should remain out of the office and register on the HCM business continuity portal, and will require Wellness clearance to return to the office. During this time, it is important for each of us to take personal ownership for our health and be respectful of those around us.

Please continue to visit the COVID-19 website on GSWeb for best practices on staying healthy, up-to-date guidance and resources.
