There’s a unique mix of intensity and collaboration at Goldman Sachs. People are driven and deeply committed, but also generous with their time and support. It’s a culture that pushes you to be better—and gives you the tools and community to grow.

I grew up in a small town in southern Austria called Villach, and later moved to London to study at London School of Economics, before heading to the U.S. for my graduate studies at Wharton. I didn’t map out a path into finance—it was something I discovered along the way. The more I learned, the more fascinated I became by the way financial systems work and markets shape real-world outcomes. What drew me in was the problem-solving, the dynamism, and the opportunity to keep learning. My studies gave me the toolkit, but curiosity is what kept pushing me forward.

What impressed me after an internship at Goldman Sachs in 2007 —and continues to define the firm for me today—was the calibre of the people, the intensity of the work, and the emphasis on teamwork. I became a full-time employee in the London office in 2010, starting in emerging markets trading. Over the years, I’ve worked across a broad range of products—from FX and bonds to swaps, credit, and structured solutions. In 2024, I relocated to Singapore with my family to take on a broader trading leadership role in the region. I was named partner in November 2024, which was a personal milestone—but more than that, it reflected the strength of the teams I’ve been fortunate to be part of. The roles, markets, and geographies have evolved, but the core of the job hasn’t changed: working with exceptional people to solve complex problems in global capital markets.

The Singapore office combines the firm’s global standards with a strong local character. It’s fast-paced, highly collaborative, and driven by a sense of shared ownership across teams. We operate across two sites: one in Marina Bay, set against some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, and another in the central business district, right in the heart of Singapore’s commercial core. The office has grown meaningfully over the years, alongside the region’s increasing importance to our business. It’s a dynamic place to work—anchored in Goldman Sachs’ culture, but shaped by the energy and diversity of Asia.

I co-manage our Global Currencies and Emerging Markets Trading team in Asia Pacific. We help clients access liquidity and manage risk across fixed income products in some of the world’s most dynamic markets. That includes pricing and executing transactions, structuring bespoke solutions, and offering insight into how macroeconomic and geopolitical developments impact their portfolios. At its core, the role is about understanding markets and being a steady, trusted partner to our clients—especially when conditions are uncertain.

What I enjoy most is the pace of learning and the opportunity to work alongside talented, driven colleagues. Markets are constantly evolving, and each day brings a new set of challenges for us to solve together. Success in this role requires curiosity, a genuine passion for markets, and the ability to collaborate effectively. Being a team player is essential—this is not a job you do alone. The most rewarding moments are when we navigate complexity as a team—helping clients through uncertain environments and seeing the results of that work play out in real time.

I’m usually up around 6AM and start the day with breakfast with my family. On some mornings, I’ll fit in a workout—it helps me stay grounded and focused. I catch up on markets during the commute to stay on top of overnight developments. By the time I reach the office, I’m generally up to speed on news, emails, and messages. The rest of the day is shaped by a mix of market activity, client engagements, and team discussions around transactions, risk, and strategy. I also carve out time to focus on broader business planning and longer-term, high-impact initiatives. While there’s a rhythm to the day, there’s rarely a routine—and that’s part of what makes the role so engaging. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife, two daughters, two cats and our new puppy. I’m an avid rock climber, both indoors and outdoors, and a passionate foodie. I also love exploring new corners of Singapore with the family and travelling across Asia.

All four core values of Goldman Sachs are relevant to my day-to-day work—they serve as practical guideposts for how we operate. Partnership is central—it’s reflected in the way we collaborate as teams, support one another, and work collectively toward our goals. Integrity is essential in markets, where trust and reliability matter. Client service defines our purpose—we focus on understanding our clients’ needs and delivering outcomes that help them succeed, especially in complex or fast-moving environments. Excellence is about holding ourselves to a consistently high standard and being thoughtful in how we approach challenges and opportunities alike. What makes Goldman Sachs special is that you see these values in action—consistently, and at every level of the firm. They shape the culture, the decision-making, and ultimately the way we show up for each other and for our clients.

There’s a unique mix of intensity and collaboration at Goldman Sachs. People are driven and deeply committed, but also generous with their time and support. I’ve benefited enormously from the firm’s apprenticeship model, and I try to pay that forward. It’s a demanding environment—but for those who thrive on challenge, curiosity, and growth, it’s an incredibly rewarding place to be.
