Teamwork is essential to success here, and the range of expertise across the firm means there is always an opportunity to learn from the people around you

A Chemistry degree taught me to solve problems, Goldman Sachs gave me the platform to do it at scale. During my time at Imperial College London, I discovered a genuine passion for programming and began choosing modules and projects that reflected this growing interest. I joined Goldman Sachs as a Masters Apprentice because I wanted to continue my education while also gaining hands-on experience working in an engineering team, solving complex problems with real, high-impact outcomes.

I found the perfect way to learn and build a career at the same time. The Masters Apprentice programme was a two-year opportunity that allowed me to work as an engineer in the Loans Platform team while studying towards my Master's in Digital and Technology Solutions at the University of Warwick. I could deepen my technical skills in a professional environment and build a strong foundation in the financial sector at the same time.

Collaboration and diverse talent make Goldman Sachs an exceptional place to grow. Teamwork is essential to success here, and the range of expertise across the firm means there is always an opportunity to learn from the people around you. The Loans Platform plays an important role across many different aspects and types of loans, from positions and servicing to collateral, and we build and support the applications used by Operations every day.

AI and a ground-up platform rebuild are transforming how we work. The team has incorporated AI into our application to extract information from documents and is constantly looking for ways to automate and improve our services. We are now building a completely new platform designed to bring together all existing applications into a single, cohesive experience for our users, involving a brand-new UI and a complete redesign of our existing systems. Being involved at the very start of a project like this is genuinely exciting.

Variety, curiosity, and ownership are what make this role truly rewarding. There are always opportunities to get involved in different projects and learn about different aspects of the team. To be successful, genuine curiosity and enthusiasm for learning new technologies, including AI, go a long way. Being proactive in researching things relevant to your project helps you contribute to the team's goals and advance your own career. Building strong relationships within the team is equally important; it deepens your business knowledge and helps you understand the bigger picture. Taking responsibility and ownership of your work builds trust and credibility. The most rewarding aspect is working as part of a team to truly understand a problem and deliver an effective solution.
