29 AUG 2019

As the summer internship program comes to an end, we wish our summer analysts and associates farewell and good luck this fall. Here’s a look back at some of the fun and memorable experiences our Summer Intern Class of 2019 shared from around the world.

Summer Orientation

Our summer intern program kicked off with regional sessions orientating the 2019 class to the culture and business of the firm while fostering connectivity with a broad range of professionals and peers.

Giving Back to the Community

In partnership with Hong Chi Association school for children with disabilities, 102 firmwide interns and professionals from our Hong Kong office participated in a Community TeamWorks event that involved clearing debris from the rooftop of an apartment building to make space for new solar panels.

Before and after shot of the rooftop

Interns from the Dallas office packaged 300 HopeKits and 1,500 Breast Health Kits in partnership with the National Breast Cancer Foundation. The kits will be handed out at expos to educate on preventative care and will also be used as care boxes for those going through chemotherapy.

Engineering Expo

Interns in Goldman Sachs Engineering participated in the annual Engineering Expo, an event that allows interns to learn about other teams within the organization and network with engineering professionals. Over the course of the day, various engineering business units featured their products and projects, and hosted sessions on a broad range of topics from computer languages and machine learning to digital platforms in investment research.

Coding Contest in Bengaluru

Two hundred fifty-two interns in Goldman Sachs Engineering in Bengaluru, heard from Investment Banking managing director, Paddy Balasubramanian who spoke to the summer analysts about Engineering in the financial services industry and shared insights on his career journey.

Marquee Datathon

Interns were challenged to develop insights, visualizations and models using Marquee's Goldman Sachs Quant APIs. This provided them with access to familiarize themselves with a large set of financial data as well as an opportunity to win cool tech prizes including voice assistants, headphones and virtual reality headsets.

Team Bonding

Interns in the Securities (Sales and Trading) Division woke up at 5:30 a.m. ET to run as a group around lower Manhattan and across the Brooklyn Bridge.

Interns from various divisions in the Hong Kong office bonded over a game of Jenga while, in the New York city office, an intern on the engineering campus recruiting team celebrates National Intern day with his manager.

Interns from the London office gathered on a city rooftop for their first event as the class of 2019. They got to know each other over BBQ and played croquette whilst being surrounded by an amazing view of the London skyline.
