Students in India Explore Careers in Technology

08 FEB 2016

The Technology Talk series, which is part of the firm’s student engagement efforts, brings senior Goldman Sachs technology professionals to campuses across India.

The series launched on January 28, 2016 at National Institute of Technology (NIT) Karnataka, Surathkal. Umesh Subramanian, global head of the Finance Engineering team, spoke to an audience of 170 students and professors about the essential role innovative technology solutions play in driving the firm’s success. He also discussed career opportunities in the Technology division and his own journey from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras to Goldman Sachs partner.

"It was great to meet the heads of departments from NIT Karnataka, Surathkal and exciting to kick off this new series but I especially enjoyed seeing the high level of engagement from students during the Tech Talk,” Umesh said.

Students submitted questions to @GSCareers on Twitter for a Q&A session following the talk.

“Personally, I didn’t know much about investment banking. So it really opened up my take on how I see computer science and the opportunities it holds related to finance,” said second year student Pranathi.

The talk was the first in a series of five with upcoming talks at National Institutes of Technology Trichy, Warangal, Calicut and Allahabad.
