In this episode, filmed at Goldman Sachs’ Builders + Innovators Summit, Under Armour chairman and CEO Kevin Plank discusses building his successful performance brand and how to stay relevant in a crowded consumer landscape.
On finding an ethos for the brand: “The difficulty is I think finding an ethos that you’re grounding yourself in and for us it’s performance. For us, everything that’s Under Armour means that it’s doing something to make you better…. Our vision is to provide you with performance solutions you never knew you needed and then once you have them, wonder how you could have ever lived without them.”
On advice to entrepreneurs: “Appreciate the great years. Like people always say, ‘I love when it was small, when I was just an entrepreneur, when I was just getting started.’… Really appreciate the good years. The bad years can really be horrible, but you find silver linings in all of them and I wouldn’t take any of it for granted either.”
