Taking the Lead in the Future of Music
When we heard the founder’s passion and long-term vision for his music streaming company, Goldman Sachs went “all in” with Spotify including investing directly.
From our first meeting in a London coffee shop, we believed that Spotify would be a truly global platform, reimagining the streaming business from the ground up. To get there, Spotify needed a global partner, and Goldman Sachs stepped in to help make things possible. We’ve had great opportunities to work together on a series of novel transactions.
With Spotify, we work as a team across borders. Our relationship demonstrates global coordination and broad product expertise. Working with Goldman Sachs, Spotify went public in 2018 and became the first major company to directly list its shares on the New York Stock Exchange. The firm also helped Spotify strike deals with strategic investors in key markets, including an innovative partnership with Tencent, the leading streaming service in China.
