Opportunity is available to all those that want it at Goldman Sachs.

With over two decades of experience of working at the firm, I am proud of being associated with a brand such as Goldman Sachs. I was part of the first cohort of colleagues as the firm opened its Bengaluru office which serves as a reminder to pass on the culture of the firm through the years but all the same I’m amazed at how learning is a continuous process. As cliched as it may sound, it is being surrounded by smart, driven people and the culture of collaboration that brings me to work every day. So while the days may be long, the years definitely seem short!

Opportunity is available to all those that want it at Goldman Sachs. I try to build a brand for myself as someone who can lead effectively to get things done. I consider it an achievement to have worked across three diverse business areas, in multiple roles and being able to consistently deliver throughout.

Throughout my time at the firm there has always been a consistent statement of being one team. Irrespective of where teams are located geographically, there has always been a sense of belonging and togetherness although as technology has advanced, it’s become easier to connect with global colleagues. We work with so many different geographies in Bengaluru that it is almost a melting pot of global GS culture; this has meant that there is a very natural global connectivity and growth narrative.

To me excellence means, being the subject matter expert on whatever it is you do irrespective of your role. Through the experience I’ve gained over 20 years, I’ve learnt that it is important to execute with excellence. It is often the knowledge of the detail which translates the best plans to equally effective action. The ability to communicate effectively with people and leading by example is important to help mentor and guide newer colleagues. To me, excellence is about being a role model.
