Aasem Khalil to Assume Additional Responsibilities as Global Head of the Cross Markets Group
We are pleased to announce that Aasem Khalil will assume additional responsibilities as global head of the Cross Markets Group. In his expanded role, Aasem will lead our client coverage across products and regions within the middle market, overseeing our strategy to identify new commercial opportunities as we continue to grow and invest in our cross markets franchise, allowing us to serve more companies globally.
Aasem brings significant experience and deep client relationships to his new role. He serves as global head of Investment Banking Client Services (IBCS), and in this capacity has a unique understanding of the breadth and depth of our client franchise around the world. Aasem will continue to work with our Investment Banking teams across sectors and regions, ensuring we remain the advisor of choice as we engage and support our clients.
In addition to leading IBCS, Aasem will also continue to serve as head of the Dallas office and as head of Investment Banking in the Southern region of the US.
Previously, Aasem was co-head of Latin America and head of Investment Banking in Latin America. Before that, he was a member of the Equity Capital Markets Group.
Aasem joined Goldman Sachs in 1996 as an analyst on the Mortgage-Backed Trading desk, and was named managing director in 2008 and partner in 2016.

Dave Friedland to Leave Goldman Sachs
After 27 years of distinguished service, Dave Friedland, head of the Cross Markets Group within Investment Banking, will leave the firm.
Throughout his tenure, Dave helped expand our franchise to serve more clients around the world, including through his leadership of the Cross Markets Group. In addition, he has held leadership roles across Investment Banking’s industry groups, including as head of Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) for each of the Cross Markets Group, the Financial and Strategic Investor Group, the Real Estate Group, and the Consumer Retail Group.
Beyond his commercial contributions, Dave has been a role model to many of our people, helping to train and develop the next generation of bankers. He has remained actively involved in the firm’s recruiting efforts at Columbia University and the University of Michigan.
Dave joined Goldman Sachs in 1998 as an associate in M&A. He was named managing director in 2006 and partner in 2014.

Announcing the Formation of the Americas Insurance Solutions Group
We are pleased to announce the formation of the Americas Insurance Solutions Group, a cross-product client coverage team within GBM – Public. The team will be led by Jonathan Rousse, and focus on delivering the best of the firm to this increasingly important client segment. The creation of the team formalizes our approach to cross-product insurance coverage, which has led to market share gains in recent years.
The team of Insurance FICC and Equities specialists, reporting to Jonathan and working closely with senior product salespeople, will deliver comprehensive coverage by combining cross-product expertise, strong client relationships, and deep industry understanding.
Jonathan is currently head of Equity Structured Sales in the Americas. He joined Goldman Sachs as an associate in 2005, and was named managing director in 2013 and partner in 2020.

Ben Wallace to Assume Additional Responsibilities as Co-Head of Mergers & Acquisitions in the Americas
We are pleased to announce that Ben Wallace will assume additional responsibilities as co-head of Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) in the Americas, alongside Avinash Mehrotra and Brian Haufrect.
Working closely with Avi and Brian to ensure seamless integration and continued success, Ben will focus on driving the strategic direction of the Americas M&A business and identifying new opportunities to strengthen our franchise.
Ben will continue to serve as head of M&A for the Global Healthcare Group. He joined Goldman Sachs as a managing director in 2018 and was named partner in 2022.

Ken Pontarelli to Retire
After nearly three decades of distinguished service, Ken Pontarelli, global head of Sustainable Investing within Goldman Sachs Asset Management with responsibility for the firm’s private equity direct impact investing efforts, will retire at year-end. Ken will spend time with our investment teams and clients to transition his responsibilities throughout the second half of the year.
Ken first joined Goldman Sachs 33 years ago as an analyst in the Investment Banking Division. After three years, he attended Harvard Business School and returned as an associate in Investment Banking in 1997. Ken then joined the Principal Investment Area in the Merchant Banking Division in 1999, and was named managing director in 2004 and partner in 2006. He worked in several leadership positions until 2017 when he left the firm. At that time, he became deeply involved in sustainability and rejoined the firm in 2020 to lead our direct impact investing efforts.
Under Ken's leadership over the last five years, Goldman Sachs has raised four direct sustainability private investing funds and is now recognized as a top five impact manager ranked by size. Ken serves on the investment committees of the sustainability, infrastructure and corporate equity investments funds and has previously served on the Partnership Committee.
In addition to his commercial contributions, Ken is someone who cares very deeply about Goldman Sachs and its culture. He has had a tremendous impact on our people across the firm because of his commitment to our mission and the example he set as a professional, mentor and teacher.

Rishi Sunak to Serve as a Senior Advisor
We are pleased to announce that Rishi Sunak is rejoining Goldman Sachs, as a senior advisor.
As a senior advisor, Rishi will work with leaders across the firm to advise our clients globally on a range of important topics, sharing his unique perspectives and insights on the macroeconomic and geopolitical landscape. He will also spend time with our people around the world, contributing to our culture of ongoing learning and development.
Rishi served as Prime Minister of the UK between October 2022 and July 2024. Previously, he was Chancellor of the Exchequer from February 2020 to July 2022. Prior to that, Rishi held several positions, including as Chief Secretary to the Treasury and Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.
Rishi’s career in politics started when he was elected Conservative MP for Richmond (Yorkshire) in 2015. He later served as Parliamentary Private Secretary at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy from 2017 before becoming a minister.
Previously, Rishi spent his professional career in business and finance, having co-founded an investment firm working with companies internationally. He also worked at Goldman Sachs, first as a summer intern in Investment Banking in 2000 and later as an analyst in the Principal Investment Area between 2001 and 2004.
Rishi studied Politics, Philosophy and Economics at Oxford University and earned his MBA at Stanford University, where he was a Fulbright Scholar. He remains engaged with both universities, as a member of the World Leaders Circle at the Blavatnik School of Government at Oxford and as the William C. Edwards distinguished visiting fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University.
Rishi is the MP for Richmond and Northallerton.

Raghav Maliah to Assume Additional Responsibilities as Chairman of Investment Banking

As we continue to grow and unite our investment banking business across Asia Pacific, Raghav will lead our work with a broader array of clients, leveraging his deep understanding of global industries and markets to advance our franchise. Raghav is among our most seasoned and strategic bankers, and he has steered many of the firm’s significant and complex client relationships for decades through his various leadership roles in Asia Pacific.
Raghav will continue to serve as co-head of Mergers & Acquisitions in Asia Pacific and head of the Technology, Media, and Telecommunications Group in Asia Pacific Ex-Japan. He is also a member of the Asia Pacific Management Committee. Raghav joined Goldman Sachs in 2000 as an associate, and was named managing director in 2006 and partner in 2010.

Joe Porter to Become Global Co-head of Software Banking and Relocate to London
We are pleased to announce that Joe Porter will become global co-head of Software Banking, alongside Jason Rowe, and will relocate from San Francisco to London, joining the Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) Group in EMEA. He will work with Alexandre Lucas, Maria Ciani Bassetti, and Daniel Krinsky to further grow our business and strengthen our client relationships across the region and globally.
Joe is currently a senior software banker in the TMT Group on the West Coast, bringing a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the sector to his new responsibilities.
Joe joined Goldman Sachs as an analyst in 2005. He has held various roles within the firm, including in the Executive Office, the Global Consumer Retail Group, and the PSI Group. Joe was named managing director in 2017 and partner in 2024.

Mariano Zimmler to Leave Goldman Sachs
After four years of service, Mariano Zimmler, head of Balance Sheet Strategy in Corporate Treasury, will leave the firm.
Mariano has overseen a variety of functions including Asset Liability Management, Resource Allocation, and Execution. He was instrumental in building out the firm’s Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book (IRRBB) framework, in line with heightened regulatory requirements with a focus on protecting the firm.
Mariano has served as a member of the Firmwide Asset Liability Committee, Firmwide Model Risk Control Committee and Capital Policy & Procedures Oversight Committee.
Mariano has also been dedicated to attracting and retaining diverse exceptional talent at the firm. He served as global sponsor of the Firmwide Hispanic/Latinx Network, a member of the Global Inclusion and Diversity Committee (IDC), co-chair of the CF&O IDC and chair of the Corporate Treasury IDC.
