Before deciding I wanted to become a software engineer, I enrolled in a civil engineering course. I got my first exposure to programming language C and to algorithms in a robotics workshop. Because of this, my problem solving approach changed and I had a better understanding of the importance of finding an efficient solution to a complex problem, which ultimately led me to pursue a career in software engineering.
I joined Goldman Sachs in 2013 as an analyst. Since then, I have been part of a number of projects ranging from building technical frameworks, optimizing complex calculations, and interacting and collaborating with users to understand and automate their workflows. My skillset continues to grow and adapt to the ever-changing technological landscape. Though I have been with the same team since joining the firm, there has been no shortage of learning, growth opportunities, and the ability to make a significant impact.
To that point, Goldman Sachs has provided me the platform to grow as an individual, both professionally and personally. You are encouraged to take ownership from day one, and your ideas and opinions are respected regardless of your title. Adapting to this ever-growing and changing landscape, exploring new technologies to come up with the best solution is what drives engineers at Goldman Sachs.
I am passionate about traveling. I have been on multiple solo trips to Europe that have provided me windows into different cultures. I love trekking and going on hikes, which is an extension of my active lifestyle. I also love to read, and since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, I have had the opportunity to put my thoughts in the form of poems.
One piece of advice that I received when I was a new analyst that I would like to pass on is to keep learning. The exact words: “You become stagnant when you stop learning, no matter what degree you have.” So, stay curious, keep learning, and ask lots of questions.
