In June 2024 our people in Japan completed the final phase of a three-stage move to a new state-of-the-art office space in Toranomon Hills, a business complex close to the Imperial Palace and government district in central Tokyo. The move coincides with the 50th anniversary of the firm’s presence in Japan.
The new office features collaboration hubs that facilitate discussions, as well as dedicated spaces for focused work, learning, and informal gatherings - each with technology solutions and furniture tailored to their purpose.
“Teamwork has always been at the core of Goldman Sachs’ culture, and our new workspace promises to help us take our collaboration to the next level,” said Hidehiro Imatsu, president of Goldman Sachs in Japan.
“Goldman Sachs’ new home in Tokyo is designed to ensure our people can collaborate and perform at their very best, and opening our new space in Japan also marks an important milestone in our broader journey to continue modernizing our real estate around the globe,” said Jacqueline Arthur, global head of Human Capital Management and Corporate and Workplace Solutions. “Our new campuses and renovations to our existing spaces are also key as we continue to host content-rich, in-person programs for our clients and our people.”
Ahead of building out the space, the Corporate and Workplace Solutions team surveyed Goldman Sachs colleagues in Japan to ensure the new office could support team needs. In addition to a range of new workplace amenities, the new office is aiming to achieve LEED Gold certification and WELL certification, two industry-leading frameworks on sustainability and wellness, demonstrating the firm’s ongoing commitment to supporting our people’s wellbeing and creating a supportive and engaging work environment.
“We are proud to have worked on such a significant project for the firm. The team’s dedication and collaboration with different parts of the firm to ensure we delivered a world-class office space for our people was truly inspiring,” said Angus Cheng, head of Corporate and Workplace Solutions for Asia Pacific and India.
