
Sam is global co-head of client coverage for Global Banking & Markets (GBM) – Public. In addition, he is global head of FICC Sales, responsible for leading coverage of hedge funds, asset managers, pension funds and insurance companies, banks and other institutional investors.
Sam is vice chair of the Firmwide Client Franchise Committee and serves on the Management Committee, European Management Committee, and Firmwide Risk Council.
Previously, Sam was co-head of One Goldman Sachs, the firm’s cross-business strategy to provide a more comprehensive and integrated approach to serving our global client franchise. Prior to becoming global head of FICC sales, he held several FICC leadership roles, including as head of EMEA FICC Sales. Sam joined Goldman Sachs in 2007 in Interest Rate Products. He was named managing director in 2013 and partner in 2016.
Prior to joining the firm, Sam taught Quantitative Macroeconomics and Monetary Policy Theory at Cambridge University. He also qualified as a barrister specializing in commercial and contractual law.
Sam serves on the British Olympic Foundation Advisory Committee, which is the philanthropic arm of the British Olympic team, focused on creating opportunities for young people through sport.
Sam earned a BA and MA in Economics from Trinity College, Cambridge University.
