Goldman Sachs Announces Appointment of Jack Levy

NEW YORK - The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. (NYSE: GS) announced today that Jack Levy has joined the firm as Co-Chairman of its global merger business. His primary focus will be on significant client relationships and major transactions, as well as important strategic and policy initiatives in the merger business. Steven M. Heller will serve as Co-Chairman of the merger practice while continuing with his responsibilities as Co-Head of the Investment Banking Division.

Jack joins Goldman Sachs from Merrill Lynch where he established himself as one of the most respected merger bankers in the industry. He was global head of Merrill’s merger business from 1991until his recent departure. Responsibility for managing and leading the division’s mergers business will remain unchanged: David Baum and Michael Carr will continue to lead the Americas effort and Gordon Dyal and Yoel Zaoui heading the European business. The leadership of the firm’s Asia-Pacific merger businesses will remain unchanged. Gwen Libstag will continue as Chief Operating Officer of mergers worldwide. This team will be responsible for the leadership and coordination of our global merger effort.
