Alex Golten Named Chief Risk Officer of Goldman Sachs and a Member of the Firm’s Management Committee

NEW YORK, Jan 3, 2025 – The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. (NYSE:GS) today announced the appointment of Alex Golten as Chief Risk Officer of the firm.  He also joined the Management Committee of Goldman Sachs, effective January 1.

Alex has worked at our firm for decades and understands our unique culture and operating ethos,” said Chairman and CEO David Solomon. “He will use this experience to effectively partner with senior leaders across the firm and advance our enterprise risk management initiatives.”

As Chief Risk Officer, Alex leads the Risk Division and is responsible for setting Goldman Sachs’ risk management standards. He succeeds Brian Lee, who becomes Chairman of the Risk Division.

With over 27 years of experience at Goldman Sachs serving in a number of risk management leadership positions, Alex most recently served as head of Market Risk and Finance Risk. He has also been the firm’s chief credit risk officer, head of Enterprise Risk and co-head of Credit Risk for EMEA.

Alex joined Goldman Sachs in 1997 as an analyst, was named managing director in 2008 and partner in 2014. He earned an MA in Economics from the University of Edinburgh.
