In this episode of The Insight, Iain Drayton, head of Investment Banking in Asia Ex-Japan (AEJ), discusses emerging capital markets opportunities for clients across Asia.
Despite the overall slowdown in equity capital markets issuance since last year, there is a considerable amount of capital waiting to be deployed in the region, with private equity funds in particular awaiting stability. On the public side, investor sentiment has been muted, but recent activity suggests positive momentum ahead, with the return of long-only investors and improved performance of deals in the aftermarket.
“While there’s a long way to go to exit the tunnel, we’re starting to see some light. And that’s reflected in recent capital markets activity,” says Drayton.
