In June 2009, the Goldman Sachs Group acquired a 100% stake in Pratham Investments and Trading Private Limited and rechristened it Goldman Sachs (India) Finance Private Limited. Classified as a Middle Layer Non-Banking Financial Company, GIFL is the lending arm of the Goldman Sachs Group in India. As part of the credit business, GIFL focuses on the following business activities:

• Diversified lending through securitization / PTCs
• Corporate lending and asset backed financing
• Structured financing (including promoter and acquisition financing)
• Credit solutions with innovative products as may be permitted from time to time.

GIFL is 100% owned by the Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. and is part of the Global Banking and Markets Division of the Goldman Sachs Group.
